Auditions: Unplugged is a series of free online workshops targeted towards school leavers or students eager to expand upon their audition preparation training for drama school or theatre productions. The workshop will be run by a combination of BIPOC and queer VCA Alumni and Industry volunteers with extensive experience auditioning and working in theatre. While performers aged 16-21 are all welcome to apply, we are seeking and prioritising to Bla(c)k, Indigenous People of Colour (BIPOC), those with diverse bodies, transgender and gender diverse performers, as well as those who are financially disadvantaged. No experience is required! Just bring positive vibes, curiosity and a willingness to learn and engage with other performers. 

Participants will be invited to one 2.5 hour Zoom workshop with one song (2 min cut) and one monologue of choice (1 min cut) prepared. n exciting element of this initiative are our Unplugged Packs! There will be 3 Packs released over the week, each consisting of a 15-minute video focusing on the following subjects:

These will be run by industry professionals and will be focused on the following:

  • Vocal Warm up

  • Accompanist Tech

  • Managing Emotions and Wellbeing

These will be posted online and all participants will have access to them no matter when their workshop slot is! The Unplugged Packs can be rewatched forever as long as you have the link!

 

In collaboration with Be You Inc, all participants are encouraged to apply for the Be You Inc School Audition Grants. There are over 100 grants available to those who have encountered barriers and/or have struggled to access resources in our industry due to experiencing disadvantage.
